I really do. Such a geeky thing to enjoy, but there you have it. Alternate meanings, clarifications, more literal translations for comparison... mmmmm. Happiness.

On that general note the use of diction and language in The New English Bible makes me incredibly happy. My toes curl at some points, even, because it's just that delightful. Mom says ( Read more... )

Oh my.

I kind of want that translation. Because as awesome as my massive NIV Concordance is, . . . yeah, not really comparable.

A Bible with language that makes me vibrate just as much as the ideas it expresses sounds utterly wonderful.

It is a really pretty translation - it has a few issues from some interpretive perspectives (not mine, so much, but some, so it might bear mentioning), because it focuses on an attempt to translate a full thought instead of the word for word style of most other translations. It was revised heavily in the early eighties - my family's copy is an unrevised version from the seventies.

:D I think it's worth having if you can find a reasonably priced copy.
