London and Southwark picspam

I've been to London and I'm home again, seriously. I didn't lie about it and then go into hiding. gizxmaz is my witness, if nothing else. ;-) Hateful RL interfered at once and made me miss London awfully. There ought to be a major rant about that. But I haven't got the energy, to tell the truth.

Ha, I was wondering if you had secretly stayed behind in London :D

Love the St Paul's pics, and nearly jumped up when I saw The Golden Hinde - guess what, I actually got on board to check it out! (btw am always amazed how cramped the ships were for those long voyages - all those Sabatini descriptions of the luxurious Arabella must have had a big dollop of wishful thinking, or else the Spahish liked their comfort)

And great job with the Wiki links!

I'm a fan of old ships, actually. I'm a member of a local club that takes care of and sails a galleon from 1900. It has a motor, small kitchen and real toilets now - but it's cramped. And lovely, let me tell you. I never sleep better than aboard that ship. :-)

But as far as I know, the Spanish did love their comforts. But according to the Hornblower series, they had galley slaves on many ships and they stank!

Thanks about the Wiki links. Some of them are probably not 100% but there are always other links on Wiki too. ;-)

Secretly staying in London - I wish!!!

I never *sailed* in anything bigger than 45ft so I really envy you ;) I am not a trained skipper or anything remotely of that sort though, but I loved the experience. But I am also something of a fangirl when it comes to visiting old ships because, of all things, my never-ending writing project, heavily Sabatini-inspired, is set in England and the Caribbean in the early 18th cent - and since a good deal of it takes place at sea in the West Indies (no, am not a POTC fan, just a Sabatini fan!), I just have to get onboard 16th...19th century sailing ships to get the feel of it (you know how OCD I am about research ;) ) BTW ever since I saw the Divine Richard as Gizzy I absolutely realised that one of my central characters, another good-bad-boy, looks like him ;) so I guess I could say I became obsessed with watching him for research purposes too :D

Hahaha, well... That sounds good. Still, I AM very shy... And when I'm shy my english is sounding like tree cats in a washing machine... But maybe that'll fix itself... ;-) ♥

Well, I've changed userpic now... But I'll have the running Lucas now... Here you go! *Northgasm* ordered!!! 8-D

Men jag tror du förstår vad jag menar... THREE* cats! ;-D

Men trä-katter kanske också låter roligt!
