Thank you! ♥ Yep, that part is not examined enough, neither in its historical context, nor seen from the relationship angle.

Beautiful drabble, and a great exploration of her feelings on the matter. To me, it seems like Robin took her for granted, that she'd end up waiting on him, no matter how long he spent in the Holy Land. He never once considered how his actions might've affected her.

All the more reason for her to have stuck with the woobie. I don't think he would've left her to run off to the crusades. :D

Agreed x 1000! Too little explored, I'm glad I got this out. To me, it makes perfect sense that she meets him with bow and arrow.

Thanks, sweetie! ♥

Great job, as the others have said. Although I do think Robin eventually came to understand the terrible wrongness of his choice (and way too late, I might add).

Yes, I hope he did... Wish he'd voiced it on the show. :-P Sorry, fellow fandom friend... ♥

I partly agree with you. If they had married first. I could have accepted such a scenario, from a medieval point of view. Today, we'd reason more in terms "it's better if you're free to meet someone new". Too anachronistic for my taste, I'm sorry.

Possibly, she wanted to end it because he wanted to go away. But the real deal would have been to stick to their mutual promise, marry and then be apart. That was nothing strange during those days.

I'd like to delve deeper into the matter of choice as well. The whole moral issue of going to the crusades, why you do it, was GKR worth that... So many issues they never dealt with in the show. Some other fic, perhaps.

I know... It's much of my own smarting anger over the treatment of my childhood hero in this series adaption. While I love how they made the characters so multi-layered and complex, I get so sad over what you write:

he did say that it had been a mistake and he had regretted it

There was so much of that for all the characters, throughout the show. Me, bitter? Yes, a little.

And who knows how much he was "encouraged" to go on the crusade in the first place?

I'd love to know. I wish they'd addressed that. Well, that's life.

Thank you, Jadey. ♥
