Djaq, who had joined the gang some months before, was ill. She looked pale and ever so often had to retreat into the forest. She came back, looking even more pale afterwards.
The others said nothing, until the third morning when she ran out in the woods.
"Can it be the Turk flu, after all?" said Allan.
"Nonsense!" said Robin. There is no Turk flu, I told you!"
"Perhaps the food here upsets her stomach?" Will suggested.
"No!" said Much decisively. "A woman being ill every morning - there is only one reason!"
The others turned simultaneously to look at Much, all in shock.
Robin frowned at Allan. "Was it you?" he asked sternly.
"Me what? No!"
"Are you sure?"
"Look! I'm not being - "
"WAS it you?" cried Will.
"No! I thought it was YOU!" Allan cried back at Will.
"Not me," Said Will, dejectedly.
Little John growled: "Robinnnn..."
"What?" said Robin incredulously.
"If you've laid a hand on her - "
"Me! Nevah! What about you!? Or Much?"
Little John and Much both protested violently while the others debated loudly.
Suddenly, they all silenced. Djaq had returned.
"What are you shouting about?" she asked weakly.
"We... who..." Much started and blushed like the others.
"Who was it, Djaq?" Robin asked her.
"Who was what?"
"Where did you get it?" he asked again softly but purposefully.
"Vasey, in the castle," Djaq sighed and leaned her back against a tree, shutting her eyes.
"VASEY!" was heard in chorus.
"Yes," she said and looked at them with surprise. "He has it too. Have you not heard?"
"Vasey has..." yelled Allan.
"When I was his hostage last week in the castle," Djaq continued. "I got it there. He has it too."
"But - but - " Much spluttered.
"Why do you all look so silly?" Djaq asked. "Why should not Vasey be able to get a stomach flu?"
