We're going to start with the minor rant that it's the friggen 17th of the month and my rent check still hasn't cleared the bank. WTH is wrong with my landlord? This drives me absolutely nuts because she gets the check on like the 3rd or 4th from the mail (or later when weekends are involved) and then just sits on the damned thing so that I get

This month is the first time in a YEAR that our lot rent check went through before the 20th.

Of course, we were really hoping this month that they'd run their usual tardy course, and of course, they didn't.

Figures - your landlord cashes a check you hope they won't - mine won't cash a check I hope they will. Fuckers.

The thing is - I have the money at the 1st of the month. But by the 15th or so.. my math starts getting dodgy and I'm terrified that I screw up some month.

You could always round up to a larger amount right off, then keep that back, so you've got a little oops insurance.

I hate when they do this stuff. We even got a letter saying that they were going to be "speeding up the deposit process" three months back. Yeah. From the 26th to the 13th. At least THAT check cleared.

The one for the furnace... *winces* Not gonna make it.

I'm good at being a glorified secretary, too. When I worked for the Marine Engineer's Beneficial Association, I was part glorified secretary, part data entry, part pension processor, part document editor. It was good work for me.
