And I don't really understand it when it happens in places like this, were all of you have at least one thing in common!
People don't change unfortunately, either they are in school or in a 2 days seminar...they'll act exactly the same.
And I'm not saying it's something I don't do, it is natural that we will approach the persons that seem to be more interesting to us. Those criteria of course will be different for each person, but completely alienating someone from the start because of the way they look without having first a conversation is just sad as you said...

There are exceptions, though. When I studied pattern drafting and sewing some years ago I made the most unlikely friend in that class you can imagine - a very normal Greek gina/kicker type girl who loved anything pink, was a fan of Destiny's Child and wanted to start up her own line of very frilly and very pastel underwear. It's fun when that happens.
