The overlap of Tea Party supporters with Republicans is large, but includes essentially zero members of the party leadership. The overlap of Tea Party members with Democrats is smaller, but still significant and will grow with time.
The idea of the Tea Party is to remove those abusing their power of office from elected positions, and to return government to its limited constitutional role, rather than the Leviathan it has become.

That is what they say, but I don't believe they have any intention of doing so, nor would they like the results if they did.
