which is to say: today the massachusetts state legislature voted down a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. which means that big gay marriage is here to stay, and opponents have to start the petition process all over again, and even if they manage to succeed, they wouldn't be able to get it on the ballot any sooner than 2012. word on the street is that my beloved governor koopa troopa went door-to-door, making deals and shaking babies to get the last few swing votes.
