a. when i go to wordcount.org, it tells me that "shenanigans" is ranked 46,719th (between "hustling" and "franked") and "wretch" is ranked 36,320th (between "aplysia" and "tobias") out of 86,800 words. let's see what we can do about this, hmm?

you know, insert here my long rant about how it's not the job of queer people to work to dismantle the institution of marriage, because some queer people really want that god-via-government noah's arc seal of approval and that's okay and some queer people just want to be able to get access to their partner's fucking pension plan and don't give a shit about the philosophy behind state-sponsored monogamy and that's okay.

Word. And *that's* okay.

Marriage has indeed hijacked the queer civil rights movement, and insert [here] my position on rejecting the institution of marriage and how I feel about those who do indeed want it (which is, basically, 'and that's okay'.)

blah blah I feel useless leaving comments when the person you're commenting on has basically just said mostly the same things you think and all you have to say is 'word' so I'm blah blahing for a second to see if I have anything indeed *interesting* to add ...

blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah

No.

are you now accusing my thumbs messages of being blah blah blah?

i'll have you know that my thumbs messages are drawn-out, thought-out, PLANNED blah blah blah.

off to do that thing that people are doing below in the comments:
3-digit birthday: "recently"
5-digit birthday: "mucoid"
last 4 SSN: "string"

if you tell me that any of these words (except possibly "recently") have any great bearing on my life/self, i cut you.

Sometimes I like to go wordcount and enter my PIN number or my birthday rendered in four digits and see what the word is and decide if That Word Is Personally Meaningful and A Totem for My Life. But I think one of them is something really stupid that completely defeats the purpose, thank goodness.

I do love wordcount, though.

I did this and discovered

a) my 4-digit birthday (which is actually 3 digits, due to being born before october) is "difficult"

b) my 5-digit birthday (which I can only do because I was born before september; they don't have more than 90,000 words) is "existentialist"

c) the last 4 digits of my SSN are "loudly"

I think this sums up my existence pretty well.

THIS HAD BETTER BE TONGUE-IN-CHEEK. you have the coolness thing wrapped up and taken away -- it's yours, baby. me? I catch a glimmer of it now and then, but it's like fireworks, sparkly for a second or three, then gone leaving smoke and the smell of gunpowder.

I think shenanigination is the best new word I've heard this week.

Also, WRT marriage/queer rights: yes and yes. And I was going to go off about domestic partnership laws, but you've kind of got the thing wrapped up in a v.v. compact nutshell here, and things in nutshells are generally v.v. good (see also: walnuts, hazelnuts, etc.), so I'll leave it at that.

Even more alarming is that "he" is ranked at 15, while "she" is ranked at 30. Shenanigans are definitely in order!
