*waves eagerly* I want to share this beautiful rec list I did for H/C Bingo. I used the prompts of nausea and lacerations/knife wounds, mostly sticking in the The Mentalist fandom.

The Mentalist | Rated T. Prompt: Nausea
So, I might be a little biased with this recommendation-after all, this fic was written for me. But my overall recommendation still stands. This fic is hilarious, thoughtful and at the same time, delightfully tongue-in-cheek with the dialogue between Red John and Jane, Lisbon and her team, and Lorelei and Red John too. Nausea sucks though, especially in the parttake of Jane's feelings for Red John and vice versa. :(
2 - Grave for Monsters by Puckk
The Mentalist | Rated M. Prompt: Lacerations/Knife Wounds
There are two things (for me) that make a good fic: death and tons of angst. This fic fills my desire for death and angst without being too heavy on the dialogue. I think it’s a logical alternate universe too, if Jane had never decided to join Lisbon and co. at the CBI. (Essencially, a fic on how Jane would have liked to kill Red John the same way Red John killed his family - knife times!)
3 - Entrapment by ch19777

What a ride, I mean, like seriously. I won’t spoil the fic, but it’s a fic with an ending that you don’t quite expect. This is also one of those fics that seriously made me start shipping Red John/Lisbon. The smiley face carved into the body is probably one of my favorite RJ marking blade things. :D
4- Flesh Wounds by Ruuger
The Mentalist | Rated T. Prompt: Lacerations/Knife Wounds
Such an angsty (but overly fluff) piece between Cho and Jane, especially for a post-Red John fic. Cho helps Jane clean up, after Red John is knifed to death.
5- Deep Red Bells by greenripper
The Mentalist | Rated: M. Prompt: Lacerations/Knife Wounds
Okay, hands down. This is probably my FAVORITE fic in the entire The Mentalist fandom. From start to finish, this fic is one giant rollercoaster ride-and honestly, it’s one of the grittiest fanfictions I have discovered (to date) that doesn’t actually require ¾ of the fic to be in sex. Red John's daft with a knife, but not as daft as Grace.
6- to love and kill with the very same hand by Ravenspear
The Mentalist | Rated: T. Prompt: Lacerations/Knife Wounds
Another Jane/Cho fic, but the thought of Cho killing Red John is probably something that will intrigue me for the rest of my days. Also, bonus points for Cho telling Red John that sepsis will kill him much faster from the knife wounds. Or something like that anyways.
7-Pound of Flesh by Ruuger

CHARACTER DEATH GALORE. I’m a stickler (as I said before) for death, angst and dark!fic. This is one of those fics that packs a powerful punch, especially to the gut. It also reminds you that Red John is a glorified bastard, especially at how everyone dies. Clue: there are knives involved. Ouch.
8- Blood-stained Leather by Ruuger

Okay, so technically the rules of the hurt/comfort game aren’t that only PEOPLE need to be hurt. Couches need love too (and have vivid thoughts of revenge), right? Right. Although the Jane/Couch pairing has always been an amusement of mine, this fic does break my heart a little. THAT POOR COUCH and it's various knife wounds. :(
9 - The Last Person You Would Expect by kathiann

Serial killer Jane? Why, yes please! I’ll take twenty. 😊 But really, no. This fic is a gem; not only is Jane Red John, Jane is also going after Lisbon, after he's knifed his wife and daughter. I love my characters, but hehehe, even I deserve a whole LOT of darkness here and there.
10- Red Sky at Morning by kesomon

Even I must admit - the idea that Shawn Spencer becomes Patrick Jane is too good to pass up. But did he HAVE to die though?! DAMN YOU RED JOHN FOR KNIFING SOMEONE. *sobs*
11- Russian Roulette by tromana

This fic is in my top five, personally. And it’s not just because Red John/Lisbon is a thing. Russian Roulette is so beautifully crafted that you almost have to do a double-take, because the hurt for Lisbon is SO strong toward the end of the fic. Also, tromana does an excellent job with case fics (and Red John cases, because writing how a kitchen knife wielding serial killer kills can be difficult.)
12-Kin & Kith by tromana

I know. Another fic written for me. But what can I honestly say? People know what I like. But no. This fic is beautiful, in the fact that a) there’s a build-up quite unexpected and b) my name-sake dies. (I will always love a fic where I die. It’s just such a huge honor.) Also, there's a bit of fun with a knife. Blood's involved. Won't say much more than that. :)
13- it wants your blood by belatrix

All of belatrix’s fics are beautifully written (and dark), but this fic is so…twisted, I just can’t help but LOVE it. I almost wish the show had ended in this direction, because Jane got his final revenge with the kitchen knife and it’s almost a touch of Red John/Jane that if you closed your eyes, you’d miss it.

Yeah. I’m going to be one of those authors today and rec my own work. Written for a Halloween fic-a-thon and seriously one of the most FUCKED up things I’ve written in a LONG time, there’s no shortage of pain/hurt or blood in this fic. Actually, some parts of this fic still keep me up at night. Whoops. Sorry. Not Sorry. There's a bit of knifeplay going on, which isn't a bad thing. It's just...gory.
