New Wraeththu WIP: Reap the Wild Wind

Sep 17, 2008 19:45

I've been working on an early-era Wraeththu story, Sulh-centric. I'm not entirely sure where I'll go with it, but The Muse has been giving me ideas. I'll try to post once a week; I don't think this will be as long as Maelstrom & Mage or DtWW, but I'll write on it until it seems to have come to a logical end ( Read more... )

wip, rating: adult, sulh, wraeththu, reap the wild wind

Hi hon. Just now getting a chance to read your latest. I remember seeing your scene about the sacrifice - very powerful. The opening aruna is particularly passionate. I really can feel it: "pewter dawn and thorns. Blackspur was voracious, feeding on Kelp's neck as though he were starving. He kissed and sucked at the skin before sharing breath again: he shared a torrent of thoughts and feelings, desire and lust and solidarity pouring into Kelp like water from a broken levee.Kelp throbbed; he could taste his completion, tingling at the base of his feet and roiling upward until it was a heavy, molten ache." Well done.
I also liked the introduction of Cobweb. The sheep doing what sheep always do. So, now they've found a new group and I wonder what's next. . . I'll have to read more later.
Hugs!

I agree with elfscribe, the sacrifice scene is powerfully cool and mysterious. The kindness of the hara to one another comes through. The erotic scenes are tender and easier to take than slash, for some reason. ;) I'm intrigued at the prospect of the upcoming training.

Thank you so much! I'm embarrassed that I'd not replied to my dear Elfscribe; I try to do so in a very timely manner! I'm thrilled to have you along as a reader, and that you enjoyed the sacrifice scene and the Wraeththu aruna scenes. :) I do hope that the story continues to live up to your expectations!

Had another thought about the slash in this; 'conventional' aruna with Wraeththu, at least from a mechanics viewpoint, is very much like het sex, so I'm not surprised that these scenes are easy for you to read. I've had some of my hara get creative and more conventionally slashy, but the default for them is one is in a more feminine role and the other in a more masculine.

That's what I was thinking. They resemble true hermaphrodites in behavior, although I hadn't clocked in on the subtle masculine/feminine roles.

I think it's the lack of body hair that's helping me get around my gag reflex. :-)
