The door to room 326 was open. Inside, one red-head paced the length of the room, seemingly memorizing. Her cat watched her from the empty bed, his tail beating a rythmic pattern into the mattress. Alanna was very interuptable. And not on the verge of crying, really. It was just so dusty in the room and she had to blink a lot.

Oh, this was going to suck.

Parker had a small package in her hand, wrapped in a gold scarf, and small bag in the other. "So. Um." She handed over the bag. "Shrimp. And a bottle of cream. And some caviar. I don't know, he might like it?"

Faithful trotted over. "Oooooh." Alanna laughed. "You spoil him."

"Hardly." Parker grinned a little, trying to keep it light, and fished out the tin of caviar, popping it open with one thumbnail. "He's a gorgeous cat and a good listener, as well as an entertaining Radio host. A small going-away gift isn't out of order here."

Faithful? Was a happy kitty. "Thank you!" He preened. "And has an ego to match." Alanna joked.

"The universe would be unbalanced if he didn't," Parker joked back, then handed over the gold-wrapped package. "To keep you company, as you go off knighting."

"Thank you." Alanna said through a lump in her throat. "I keep expecting someone to wish me luck knitting."

"You're welcome. And I think we know you a little better than that." Parker smiled gently. "And it's not like I could do any better than you would at knitting. Something we have in common."

Alanna made a face. "I'm imagining the final effect would be much like Faithful and a ball of yarn." "HEY!"

Parker snickered, and reached out to scratch Faithful's head. "So. Chorus first? Then Tortall?"

"Something like that, yeah."

Parker turned quiet, thinking. "Did you ever figure out a way for us to communicate between your world and everyone else's? Because we're not losing touch. I already know that." Said with complete and total assurance that skirts around arrogance because of what Parker knows. They're not. Aly's said so. Even if Alanna doesn't know that for certain yet.

"How do you feel about letter writing?" Alanna asked dryly. "It's not perfect and I have no idea how well it will work, but hey, something."

"I adore it," Parker said, lips twitching. "You will be sick of the letters you get from me. Really. Where do I send these, and what kind of postage does it need?"

Alanna handed over a pre-written sheet with instructions. That will be going up in a few weeks. "It's a little iffy on the place, so I might not recieve your letters from months when I'm not in Chorus. No postage."

Parker carefully folded it and put it in her pocket, saying, "I'll be all over the place this summer. As soon as I have a Post Office box that's secure, I'll send you the address, so you can do whatever mojo is necessary to send me notes back." She kept stroking Faithful's back as he ate the caviar. "This has been a long, strange, two years. Having you as a friend... made it easier. In a lot of ways."

Alanna gave Parker an odd look. "I don't need a post office box, I need an open flame." Faithful purred. "And thanks, that means a lot."
