I'm back

Dec 05, 2006 19:40

I just cried tears of relief and joy for something other than being with soulrefraction.

I found a good dojo, and I'm back in Martial Arts.A huge weight and sadness and despair that has been hovering with me for years (esp the past 5) just got let go. The place is just what I need. The high skill level, mutual respect, attention to detail, caring, the ( Read more... )

Envy... what did you find?

I've had some online contact with a Bunjinkan instructor who I think is in your general neck of the woods (Dale Seago) who I've liked in the limited contact I've had... never found taijutsu up here that I felt was worthwhile.

What system are you doing now?

I found a great Aikido place. Most Aikido I've encountered is too soft for my tastes. The only dojo of any kind I found since leaving my Sensei in LA (small circle Ju-Jitsu with much cross disciple stuffs) that was even comprable was a Tai-Jistsu place in Boston, but they were all funny about "giving away secrets" and for them, wrestling was only taught later, sparring first (wrestling is my favorite). Here I've only found chest-thumpy, macho Brazilian Ju-Jitsu.

AS it turns out, one of the leading guys in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu who is apparently less macho-thumpy trains here and just started offering a class there in keeping with their philosophy ( ... )

Working on the body and the mind is released!

I'm going to Kung Fu at the moment it's definately a great way to keep fit and sort the old grey matter out.

Glad to hear life is treating you well. What martial art you doing?

I gave up trying to keep up the JuJitsu at Aberdeen cos they kept changing the class times and locations. Hung Ga Kung Fu has a dedicated hall and times are set so routine works. No need to worry about classes clashing.

Working in the Oil (no surprise there) as a senior doc controller
Living on Watson St in an ace flat just seconds from Victoria and Westburn Park. Think my life was on vacation and I just got back to it. Been really busy and I'm happy that way.
In my 3rd year of shiatsu training. Its a hell of a lot more work than I though it was going to be. Also been trying to learn AutoCAD in my spare time which is sparse.
Just learnt to drive and passed my test in September, now buying a mini which is something I've wanted since I was wee.
Been doing Kung Fu for over a year now and about to do my Fuk Fu grading.
That sums up my life. How bout you.

Saw your art on the website. That looks ace. Can't imagine you without martial arts. Glad you found it again. Think life takes you in different directions so you appreciate the right ones when you find them again.

Hugs

Funny how we seem to have even more in common than we did when we met. :) Awesome about you doing Shiatsu. It's almost 15 years for me now, and still learning all the time.

"Think life takes you in different directions so you appreciate the right ones when you find them again." Absolutely.

Yay for childhood fancies coming true! I hope to get out there again with Topher sometime in the next year or so (possibly part of honeymoon?). Would love to visit again. :)
