It was Giles first day back to school today, which means it was the first day he was thrown into the deep end and told to swim being completely mainstreamed.  He does have the support of his teacher from last year who is officially the one in charge even though he's not actually in her class at all.  He was also supposed to have an aide with him ( Read more... )

Good for Giles! *boogies* Sounds like he did great :)

Just as a word of caution from someone who's been there, dealt with that oh so many times... any meltdowns, etc., may not come until later in the week when it all catches up with him. So be prepared, just in case. I know you will be, I just--this was the first year I actually wasn't a nervous wreck going into the new school year. 7th grade o_O

And while I'm saying 'good for'... good for YOU :) Our kids do a lot themselves, but they couldn't do it without our support... so pat yourself on the back too, honey. You're awesome :) *hugs tight*

Thank you so much! We're all excited around here even though I'm totally expecting a major meltdown sometime soon. He had a bit of one this morning wanting to stay home in his sweats since he went to school yesterday, but I think it's going to be worse then that when it comes. Still, two days of mainstreaming by himself! Yay! Also, stubborn boy. :D

Our support really does mean a lot. It's nice to be reminded of that from someone else though. *hugs*
