Vanished. Same way we appear. The island government knows the moment it happens, bot nobody else has ever seen it. Maybe half the time they show up later with their memory of the island gone. The other half, we never see again.

Can't remember having a month this nasty before, though.

Really nasty. I guess... it never occurred to me that people could leave just as easily as they were brought here. I was too focused on the "brought here" part.
