[Ramona hadn't even been in town that long. It had been a mess of a day and she could have used something to get her mind off of everything. Being told she wasn't real was... definitely up there on the 'list of things to drink away'. And that was when she saw the mass of fliers around the college campus. Of course there would be a party. It was the weekend. Perfect.

And so there was Ramona showing up at the party alone. But it was okay. Sometimes she liked it better that way. So long as there was alcohol, she could do anything.]

[By the time Ramona arrives, Tim is somewhere between buzzed and tipsy, and someone has spilled beer on his jacket, so he's down to black slacks and a tuxedo-print T-shirt. Saying hello to everyone at the party and making sure they're having a good time is proving to be a pretty good way to avoid Feliks and Nathan, so he's on his third circuit of the room in the last hour, and almost literally bumps into Ramona less than five minutes after she shows up.]

Welcome to ...

[He's about to say "the party" when it occurs to him that he's never seen her before, and with that hair she'd be hard to miss.]

...the island, I'm guessing?

[It was easy enough to get into the party, there were so many people coming in and out. No one seemed to be going out of their way to bug her or be too obnoxious yet, but then, she'd only arrived. But she had a beer, so that was already a vast improvement compared to the rest of her day so far. She wasn't even that upset when she was bumped into and a little bit of her beer was spilled. Upon the introduction of the young man who had bumped her, she couldn't help but smile a little sheepishly.]

Is it really that obvious that I'm new here?

Not really. I'm just nosy.

[He holds out a hand.]

Tim Drake. This is my party, or... at least, it started out as my party. They kind of take on a life of their own, I'm finding.

[His tone indicates that this is dubious and not necessarily a good thing.]

[Yosuke is standing alone against the wall somewhere between the kitchen and living room, clutching a red plastic cup of Stellar jealously to his chest. In an attempt to fit in with the older crowd he's affected what he believes to be a "cool and mature" style: non-prescription glasses and a cardigan. He's been standing there for a while, having arrived just early enough to look pathetic, but not late enough for anyone he knew to be already there.

In short, he looks like a total knob. Someone please talk to him, before he starts drunkenly challenging girls to a game of twister.]

Yosuke.

[Souji doesn't notice that Yosuke has once again tried too hard. He never does. Stylishly late per usual, Souji's bland style and wet hair say a ton about just how much he cares.]

You found the beer already.

[Of course Yosuke tried too hard. Yosuke always tries too hard - it's part and parcel of being Yosuke. He's halfway through a sip of his already flat beer when Souji interrupts him and he has to make a concentrated effort not to slop it down his front. He of course notices how much better and how much more of a natural Souji looks at this. He feels a twinge of something like jealousy, something like admiration for his friend; he could probably spend all day getting ready, and not look even half as attractive as Souji did right out of the shower.]

H-hey! You made it! [He coughs again and tries to sound less like he's been waiting for him this whole time.]

Er, yeah, well.... it's not like I had to look really hard.

[Souji casually pulls the belly of his shirt to prevent it from sticking, fanning himself like it would make the moisture evaporate quicker. He never really never paid attention to the finer details of things. In fact, the only goal he had in mind was coming home from work, showering, and getting here.]

Yeah, you didn't think I'd miss a party with free food, did you?

[Souji never bothers to dress up for these things. In fact, he never really looks over his wardrobe before he puts on whever's clean. Somehow he manages to look as cool as ever in a bland white shirt with a popped collar and a pair of dark jeans. He looks like he just walked out of the shower, and was still a partial mess because of it.

He arrives somewhat late, waving a hand in greeting to those who acknowledge him. Actually, he's up for chatting with anyone who grabs him.]

[It's easy to observe that Tim is a lightweight. As the party has gone on, it's gotten even more fragmented and schizophrenic, and by this point Tim has given up trying to organize everything or socialize with everyone, and is entertaining himself by making trick throws on the dartboard.

He looks very relieved to see Souji.]

Tim? Not a bad party.

[Not exactly a great party, or a Nathan and Victor party (if that ever managed to happen again), but it was something to do. That, at least, was enough for him.]

Thanks.

[Tim sets down his handful of darts for a moment, and surveys the party.]

I'm a little more used to fundraisers, I think. Or cocktail parties.

FASHIONABLY LATE? choosefight September 24 2011, 07:11:31 UTC
[Steph is lounging on the couch, probably taking up more space than she ought to, but whatever it's Tim's, and Poland probably won't mind either. She eyes the partygoers, feeling an odd sort of pride that Tim's party is actually taking off. He probably won't stop being the battiest bat short of The Big Man, but at least he's loosened up enough for this.

Steph's considering going to get a drink, but she's not sure if she wants a repeat of the last party, especially with the whole marker craze. Constant vigilance, or whatever. She makes a small saluting gesture she hopes no one notices.]

[Only a few moments later, Tim flops down on the other side of the couch -- sort of, anyway. He slides down over the back of the couch, upside-down, in some sort of ill-conceived gymnastics move, and stays that way. He's obviously had a few drinks, but not too many -- or he would have spilled the alcohol he's carrying, and it is still amazingly upright. It's possible this counts as showing off.]

Having fun?

[Consider Steph suitably impressed! ...or as much as she can be while still laughing at Tim.]

Yeah, actually! Who would have thought you'd have it in you? I don't think I need to ask if you're having fun.

I am, actually. I wasn't at first. It's a little surprising.

[He stares at his drink a moment, then decides that no, really, there isn't any way to have a sip while remaining upside down.]

Who would have thought that relaxing was going to be so much work?
