I go around a time or two, just to waste some time with you

Sep 14, 2010 15:31

My brother's wedding went off without too many screw ups, I've managed to trick Louise into living with me (or maybe the other way around), and through the constant application of cheap alcohol have managed to resign myself to paying the enormous fucking flood damage bill. All that's left is to move the rest of my possessions into the house, and ( Read more... )

Oh man... I'm so sorry that the house is filling you with hurt, and I wish you all sorts of luck in a) fixing the damage, and b) reconfiguring your ground swale so that the majority of the run-off is shifted away from your foundations ( ... )

Thank you! I need to call someone to come pry up my deck and look at the ground and tell me what needs to be done. Bad times. At least it's finally painted and re-carpeted, and I have a bed now ( ... )

Beds are good. They make your spine less likely to rip itself out of your back so it can bitch-slap you first thing in the morning ( ... )

Right now, I'm seeing if I can get by with a memory foam mattress pad on top of a kind of crappy mattress and a boxspring. If I have to get a nice mattress-- well, I will, it'll just have to be sometime in the next two months instead!

Heee hee, oh burn Elizabeth Moon. (Most of the time I work off the, "If I died tragically while showering and a parent, a work colleague, and a friend had to close all my tabs and my livejournal was open in one of them, would I die a second time from shame? If so, do not post it" principle. I don't know why all three of them would be closing my firefox tabs, but it works as a hypothetical situation.)

*HUG* You guys are awesome.

I was thinking about watching Utena again, and now every time the bells ring I'm going to be reminded of this exchange.

Also, isn't there a way for people with dreamwidth accounts to comment on LJ? I don't think that profits LJ, but it's a way to participate without actually having an LJ account. Not too sure about that.

I refuse to believe it is anything except canon. Ding dong, indeed.

Probably! I'm really not too concerned about it. I'll miss the people who don't choose to post here anymore, but I'll either check in with them on occasion or figure out a feed or something. I'm sort of refusing to dwell on it; there are other way more important things I can focus on.

I had heard the rumors of Akio being a sex god, so when I eventually saw the series I was like: "...ok, yeah he is." I also have the feeling that Akio has never had a person only once.

Yeah, focusing on things that you don't really need to isn't healthy. People's concerns with LJ are legitimate, but you certainly aren't at risk because I've never seen you post personal information on your journal. So it's all good. (Sorta.)

Riddled with STDs, no doubt. The man gets around. Do not trust him with your local children or livestock!

Yeah. While there's certainly stuff I would be hard pressed to explain-- for example, uh, the whole Tom Daley thing up there-- and I'd probably be embarrassed if my mom read it, I do think that if there's something I don't want someone reading or knowing about, it's MY responsibility not to put it in a place where it can be accessed. Livejournal might be under a responsibility to secure it, but ultimately it comes down to ME to have the judgment on whether or not a thing is safe or proper to express outside my own head. So that's kinda where I stand on it.

You've now led me to believe that I need to read Outlander for myself. I've been looking for some new poolside material, since stories of plane crashes, Arctic expeditions gone tragically awry, and other assorted survival epics are not particularly relaxing.

…if so, I probably wouldn't get an answer from them since this pondering question is, in fact, posted on livejournal.

Win.

If you read it for the intrinsic humorous value, you'll be just fine. Gabaldon's writing is easy to read; as many people said, "it's like a big, long H/C fanfic." It's just, I got bored of the endless sexin' and grabbin'.

Heh. It's fun to address an invisible audience.

I hope the house shapes up quick - it better do something really freaking awesome for you soon, is all I have to say.

Although, I will not lie, I am completely delighted that you and Louise are back in the same state, let alone the same building. <3 (Seriously, you guys are like my real-life, platonic OTP. THAT IS NOT CREEPY, RIGHT?)

Also, geeeeeez, that book. I'm glad to hear your report on it, because I had been kind of curious myself but not enough to, uh, do anything about it. EXCELLENT.

Still undecided on what to do with LJ. I probably will not do anything yet, I still have a bunch of paid time given to me by the lovely Rissi (et al?) and, uh, I keep forgetting about my DW account.

I hope so! This home ownership is heavy stuff, man. I've actually gone into Home Depot of my own free will, and I fear I am becoming something strange to myself.

IT IS TOTALLY NOT CREEPY, ESPECIALLY SINCE I WRITE SECRET FANFIC ABOUT YOU AND BACO ALL THE TIME. Like I told Twig on email today, sometimes I'm not convinced Louise and I haven't been common-law married for years now. If only we were actually attracted to each other, I'd be set. As it is, we'll settle for hetero lifemates. (Also, I do not write fanfic about you and Baco. Unless you want me to.)

Yeah, I only recommend it if you want a laugh. Though lately I've been tearing through all of Sarah Waters' work; you've probably read some of it already, but her latest was very good. No lesbians, but a nice, Gothic, spooky story.

I won't do anything. It's not just that I'm lazy, it's that I have way bigger things to flip my gourd over. Livejournal can't even compete.

We are funny.

On the LJ thing, the thing for me is that - while I don't care hugely, to be honest - since I barely post anywhere, it's not very difficult to barely post in one place rather than another place. And when one place is morally neutral and the other place is a contender in the "Stupid? Or Evil? World Championship!", I just end up meh-ing the other way. If that makes any sense.

I intend to continue reading Livejournal until you start writing nothing but me/George Carruthers.

We are hilarious.

It makes lots of sense. I'm just too lazy to even meh my way off the old site. And like I've said, I'm not entirely sold on Dreamwidth yet.But I applaud any and all meh-ing wherever you prefer to meh, as long as you feel happy with where you are.

I intend to continue reading Livejournal until you start writing nothing but me/George Carruthers.

You have clearly not been reading my special RPF livejournal. I had wondered why you hadn't given me feedback.
