Let's go out walking, I know where to meet

I keep notebooks of all the places I go while traveling; they're filled with horribly scrawled handwriting in incomplete phrases and shorthand, and they constantly shed old receipts and airline stubs. I was going through one of them today.

I'm really glad you liked it! I had a lot of fun writing it-- in fact, I wrote so much, I nearly missed my midnight deadline! I'd like to go back to Montreal someday; I only had a short time there.

I think it's a good thing you didn't get to know St. Louis better. It sounds like he has a rather depressing streak about him that might just end up drowning you when you get in over your head.

Also, I'm really curious, do you have a method for assigning genders to cities? Is it a feeling, or arbitrary? I think D.C., for me, is more of a she than a he, despite all of the statues everywhere. (Maybe D.C. is trans? Or likes to cross-dress sometimes.)

He was kind of a tool. A nice one, but a tool nonetheless.

I was going by instinct, really. Some cities definitely feel mroe masculine or feminine to me, though my perceptions change at times, depending on the experience. I think DC feels male to me because.... uh, I can't quite explain why, actually. It just does. Though I can see how it could be female also. I'll have to think this over.

I loved your list of love affairs with other cities. I might just do one myself, but there would be more smaller cities than big ones. (I am not as well-traveled as many people on my flist are.) Maybe I'll wait to do this one until I've gone to Australia, so I can put Sydney on the list.

I've left a bunch of cities off the list; these were just the ones I remember best! But I'd definitely be interested in seeing a list of your cities, including Australian ones.

I'm jealous. I moved around a lot as a kid, and I've lived in a lot of different places, but I never really got to know the character of anyplace like you've done.

Eh, some of these I didn't stay long in, I just had interesting experiences while I was visiting that color the perception. Perks of the job, I suppose.
