And the run-up to 2008 continues

Obama has earned a couple of points in my book with this. It doesn't mean he's got my vote, but I respect him a little more.

According to a survey I took yesterday, this is the candidate that best represents my positions. Either he or this candidate will most likely get my vote in the Democratic primary, provided they are still in the race by ( Read more... )

Green party? I don't understand them. They want decentralized government, and they like personal rights. The problem is that, even though they do take the time to consider that kind of stuff, they're still pretty much a one-issue party. The only reason they're by-and-large libertarian is because making up and enforcing rules about how Average Joe spends his time (e.g., whether or not he chooses to purchase and use marijuana) would divert their attention from the more urgent task of making up and enforcing insanely authoritarian regulations on how much fuel you can burn and how many trees you can cut down. They want a neighborhood covenant on a national scale. The whole thing feels like bait and switch: lure the pothead vote, then throw them all in jail for littering. Yeah, I've been wanting Kucinich for the past few elections, but he's "too liberal" and ergo will never be the Democratic candidate - particularly with Obama and Hilary around.

Giuliani is at least relatively moderate. He is all about equal rights. He's been divorced and owns up to it and doesn't spout shit about "family values." He's fiscally conservative, which I think ew could use a little of right now (thanks a lot W). But then there's the whole Disneyfication of Times Square by illegally throwing out the homeless. That shit scares me.
