She'd tried to sleep but these days it got harder and harder. And then she'd followed Marie's steps and found the Nexus. Interesting, more so than she would have thought it would be. But not enough.
And so she wandered outside. The sun hadn't come up yet. The desert still dark, the stars tiny points on the sky. But aside from the occassional call of an owl, there wasn't much to hear. Two mugs of coffee, both the good kind. She'd heard the talk, eavesdropping from the hallway.
The new guy, Tom, he'd be up soon to wake up the kids. Maybe she'd talk to him about things. Maybe she wouldn't. Either way, she was waiting.
From the car he sees her. At first he can't tell who she is, but he recognizes the colour of her hair by some of the dim pre-morning light.
The activist.
It's obvious sleep won't be coming, so he gets up and leaves the car. It's freezing cold out, desert cold, frigid without any of the damp. Which, he supposes, is a good thing. He leaves Mary asleep in the front seat, mouth parted and hair falling over her lips.
"I usually am,' she notes softly, giving a roll of her shoulders. "I get sleep when I can but...' Her gaze averts from Tom, looking out towards the car. "Some of us have nightmares. Not always so bad but sometimes...'
Wrapping her hands around the mug tightly, directing her gaze into the murky liquid. "Brought you a cuppa. If you want."
((Hola^^ I would've greeted you with a private message or an email or summat, but the complexity of this website's layout 1337 pwned me. -_-; Leaving a comment behind to verify my existance ;D))
(( Go to just livejournal.com with nothing after it - then see the blue bar upper-middle, it has things written on it. All your navigation is there. :) ))

"You're still awake." He says to Sam.

He smiles in surprise. "So, you may be useful for something after all." He takes a sip and winks. "Even if it's just brewing."

Yes, this is my ever-so-angsty Tom journal. But it's Tom. He's allowed to be angsty.
It takes a while to get used to this site, but hi! Glad you're here! ))
