Mmm...this was beautiful. You did a great job of retaining both a sense of the characters and Tolkien's stately, but pretty, style.

"I stood again on the grey shore, but everything around me seemed fairer for that moment of sorrow, the way the spring is fairer for the winter’s passing."

^Lovely, lovely.

I think this is actually one of the first LotR fics I've read in awhile. For some reason, I've feared to read them a bit. I think I might've been scarred by all the poorly written Aragorn/Eowyn drabble I've encountered...not a fan of that ship, anyway. You've cured me. ^^

"Okay, back to the veilfic. Sirius is protecting young children from nasty reporters. Good puppy."

*Cracks whip*

*Wants her puppies*

Glad you liked the ficlet! I was reluctant to write anything LotR-inspired for a while because I wasn't sure which style to use--my own, Jackson's, or Tolkien's. But I'm pretty pleased with this one.

You'll get them, but this fic takes place in an alternate universe, so...to whom do these green-gold-eyed children belong? ^__^;;

Remus would be a terrific dad, I think. He couldn't maintain that careful distance around his own kids. No way. But, yeah. There's angst and yearning and jealousy and sweetness and...you know, the usual. ^__^;;

I love Faramir's last speech! And the premise is very enticing, that they would dream of the ship leaving the Grey Havens. Short, but very atmospheric!
