Nightfall

Fandom: The Lion in Winter, though at this point this may constitute original fiction
Rating: PG
Ship: allusions to Geoffrey/Constance, mostly shipless
Summary: John goes to Poitou to fight Richard. Geoffrey tags along.
A/N: For nextian! This is about 780 words, and follows More Aloes Than Honey, though it can stand alone.

His words were not to be trusted, not even by himself. He should not have forgotten that. )

This made me laugh more than once, in the best possible way; Geoffrey's train of thought must have all the best one-liners. I love how well you have their tone down; I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think if you wrote a Plantagenet family epic, Geoffrey-centric or not, I would read the whole thing in the greatest delight.

I think, if I wrote a Plantagenet epic, it couldn't be Geoffrey-centric, given how brief his life is. *sniff* But he's so much fun to write. John's kind of fun too. History says he was pretty smart, so I have this idea that he was faking his stupidity in order to disarm people.

Thank you! :)

I...may have squeaked when I saw this pop up on my flist.

You should totally write a whole book of them stabbing each other in the back and sleeping with Philip. But what I especially loved was the last paragraph - Geoffrey is still manuveuring for favor. Always maneuvering for favor, I guess.

Geoffrey's problem is that he doesn't know how to stop maneuvering for favor. I mean, he's pretty well off. But he just can't be satisfied. The more I read about the Plantagenets, the more I think Eleanor should have offed them all and ruled England herself. She's the only one who really knew how to campaign.

Anyway, I'm so glad you liked this! And yes, someday there'll be smut with Philip.

Goddamn, LJ ate my first effort, but that's pretty okay as it was just one long unbroken string of babbling LOVE. I think you can reconstruct it!

My favorite part was Geoffrey Not Missing Constance. But ... obviously. <3 WHY DIDN'T THEY WIN?

I'm so glad you liked this! Thank you!!

Another great read.

You know, you should really write a book. These characters are public domain now and you write better than Pamela Kaufman. I think you should commit your talents to a Geoffrey/Constance novel. It would be much better than the silly (and yet published) "Book of Eleanor" IMHO.

I look forward to more (maybe Geoff's death scene?)

Maybe. I don't know if there's enough about Geoffrey for a book, but Constance...maybe. I keep thinking it would be fun to write about her later years, when she was scheming with Philip and trying to protect Arthur from John.

I'm so glad you're enjoying these stories! :)
