My grin, it could circle the earth three times. Thank you so much for humoring me!

First of all! I love that you took the quote about Geoffrey and applied it to Constance too! And the summary is one of those rare perfect summaries. How did you make me love something so much in 740 words?

The details of characterization - like, the list is a perfect expansion of Geoffrey's character, and Constance's reaction to Eleanor on the boat fleshes her out even more - are so stirring and impressive. And I love their interaction. I always will.

As for casting. I'm kind of in love with Emmanuelle Béart these days. It may just be that talking. But, from another generation, Frieda Inescort.

I was thinking Genevieve Bujold initially, but she may be a bit too elfin.

But anyway! I'm so glad you liked this! And so glad you requested this. I enjoyed examining Geoffrey through Constance's eyes. And examining Constance. I'd thought, at first, that she'd turn out a bit fiercer, but she's still rather young.

Thank you!!

Kind of randomly, I learned about this epic poem from the 19th century, in which Alais dresses in armor and goes to fight in the crusades - on Saladin's side! That's so ridiculously, bizarrely awesome, that I kind of want to get my paws on it.

I've heard of that poem, or one like it! (I know, I don't think there are many like it...) It did sound intriguing.

It's by Eleanor Anne Porden. I tried to find it at Amazon last night, but it appears to be out of print. Sounds like the author was fairly cool herself. Before accepting this arctic explorer's marriage proposal, she made him promise not to try to stop her writing because God had given her a gift and her father had nurtured it, and to try to stop her would be an affront to her father and God. (!!!!!)

She died young, unfortunately. :(

Oooh. I will say again: you could write a Plantagenet family epic and I would read it with this epic crazy grin on my face. This was fantastic.

Thank you! :)

Well, I've made a Plantagenet fic tag because I do intend to write more. nextian wants a ficlet, and I'd kind of like to explore Constance's later years.

I loved this. Your Geoffrey is word perfect and you've created a wonderful Constance. I hope you write more about this couple.
