The Miracle of the Oil is my favourite of all the religious things I've heard of. And it has always seemed a much more sensible thing to have a holiday for than a birth - everyone has a birth.
It's a holiday. It's not your holiday, maybe it's not your captain's, but it's mine and I like to share it. Lovely Rabbi.

Really? It's not my favorite, but I like it too. It just seems like such a fitting end to the story, you know? The whole time, the Jews have been fighting and getting themselves killed, and then finally God comes in and gives them a hand reconsecrating the temple. :)
I suspect Shepherd Book and Rabbi Goldman have a history of friendly debate.

I know very little about any religious traditions. But I read a children's book about Hanukkah, the waiting and the hiding and the lighting the lamps and praying. It was revelatory, that that was what God did. I don't think I'd ever heard of such a thing before.
I makes sense that such a miracle deserves rememberance, and I like the simplicity of the ritual.
