sorry, sorry, inapropriate reaction... it's just that i'm home sick right now (so let's just go with fever induced hilarity here) and couldn't resist clicking on something that involved spoilers for trublood
see... the thing is... i've read all of the books that the series is 'based' on, and I HAVE NO IDEA WHO HALF THESE PEOPLE ARE
and... they seem like they are important to the plot
evil sam??? WHAT??? tommy who? who the hell is jessica??
bahahahahah.... each time i think i'm going to start watching it for funzies i see something like this and think... nah, i think i'll just go re-read them.
sad day though, cause i here it's good times... maybe i can wait four years like i did with 'i am legend' and then pretend i've never read the book???
anyhoo *hugs* *goes to take more fever reducers/pass out*
I'm just going to agree with you on all points. Every single one of them. Mostly how annoyed I am with Eric and with where they're taking Jessica/Hoyt.
Eric was fun for maybe half an episode. Now he's a woobie and just ... no. I never thought I'd miss lines like "Sukie is mahn!" but in view of all this maudlin blather...
I didn't like Bill much until the end of last season, but I'm loving him this season...at the expense of boring!woobie!Eric. Vampire politics is exactly what I want to see!
But I won't get started on the rapes either. Blah. One thing I hate about paranormal series is the way they tend to normalise and/or explain away sexual assault. I can't think of one that doesn't do it at least once.
I like the vampire politics! Every time I think it's reached the heights of ridiculousness, it goes farther. Sheriffs? Kings and queens? What the hell? Also, I love Nan.
One thing I hate about paranormal series is the way they tend to normalise and/or explain away sexual assault.
I hadn't really thought about that, but I think you're right. There's so much sexual imagery - especially with vampires, it seems - that when they throw actual rape into the plot, they frequently fail.
