Title: Getting to Know You

Notes: Written for Scotty Fest 2011. 800 words.

Summary: McCoy's having a bad day and Scotty isn't making it better. Somehow, they end up as friends.

Both were so touching. Thou Best and Dearest was so poignant and made me think of what it would be like to be gone for 75 years and come back to find all of your loved ones have passed away, not to mention the changes in society and technology. Wonderfully well-written.

I can only imagine how disorienting and heartbreaking it must have been for Scotty ... though I think there's a part of him that will ultimately enjoy learning about some of the advancements in engineering. Especially when he finds some of his hypotheses are now accepted as facts. That's my head canon, anyway.

OMG THESE WERE SO GREAT. Scotty! <3_<3 And seriously, I loved the interactions with McCoy in the first (I like to think he ended up making it work so McCoy could make that call...), and then his conversation with Spock in the last! (And oh man, Spock/McCoy was totally my OTP in TOS. SO PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER.)

Weren't they??? They're my TOS OTP too. I just love how they test and balance each other. I've been thinking for a while about how Spock might react to McCoy's death from old age. It only recently occurred to me that Scotty would have been alive at that point too.
