This came out absolutely lovely. All the history and pain and hurt and regret of life and family is there, but then there's the togetherness and the love. And that's enough.

Oh, these boys. You break them and put them back together beautifully. I love all of the details in this, from the family dynamics and Jim's sweet nephews to the Chanukah traditions-Jim reciting the prayers over the candles! And, of course, how they're able to heal together in the face of all those painful memories. The story has a somber, fragile tone that's upheld deftly throughout. Wonderful!

Oh dear, I'm all wibbly. I love these two so fucking hard. THIS, this is why. God, bb, this was so beautifully written and so moving.

His soul was like those snowflakes: buffeted by a harsh wind, lit briefly by a candle’s warm glow, then lost in the howling darkness. Bones broke my heart as did Jim.
