Warm Below the Storm

Summary: His rescuers are sentient cephalopods. Sulu's seen too much porn not to experience some consternation.

THIS IS JUST A THOUSAND WORDS OF AWESOME.

They ranged from a soft seashell pink to a pale tawny-gold.
I want to see them. And I am also ridiculously enamoured with the fact that they like to decorate. Oh, sentient cephalopods. Never change. ♥

Aw, they trust him. They can probably sense his good intentions with their empathy. They enjoyed his visit, but now they must get back to decorating their caves and cultivating their gardens.

Oh, the Kivi sound quite lovely! They remind me a little of one of Madeleine L'Engle's books...can't remember which one...A Wrinkle in Time? Or one of the sequels? When Meg is taken care of by a creature I believe she calls Aunt Beast. I got the same sense of warmth and gentleness.

It's been like 20 years since I read A Wrinkle In Time so I don't think there was any subconscious influence going on. *g* Really, I just wanted fluffy, sweet octopuses.

Hey, this turned out awesome. The only thing I'm not fond of is using "briny" twice (rare word). For a while there I kinda hoped he'd stay with them. Because awh... I think I want more of these delightful tentacled folks. :-)

Is it all that rare? *g* I like it, but maybe salty would have been better the second time.

In any case, thank you!! I'm so glad you liked this, and so glad it came out well. I think maybe Sulu goes back to visit them at some point, when he has some shore leave and can charter his own ship. Or maybe he keeps a bit of the empathic bond.
