I wasn't sure how mischievous Vulcans are by nature, but decided that, for McCoy, Spock will make an exception.

Spock's canon behavior toward McCoy (and sometimes Kirk) seems to indicate that Vulcans do have a sense of humor, so... what the hell. :)
