WAH!!! The bit about how he didn't want to let her down repeatedly, just once, is what really got to me. I'm incredibly thankful my dad stayed around - but he wasn't a doctor. Fantastic job. (To show my Star Trek stupidity, what's Memory Alpha?)

Thank you so much!

I'm so glad you liked the ending. Part of me still wants to tweak it, since I'm not completely sure it conveys what I wanted it to. I had these thoughts about how it would be easier for HIM to just get off the planet entirely than disrupt her life repeatedly...but I couldn't articulate it properly. Not without making him sound like a big jerk, anyway. Then the power went out and I was late for a thing, so I decided to leave it. :P

Poor Bones.

Oh, wow. The ending of this story hurts, but in a good way.

Well, God... that hurt. Brilliant little story here. Poor McCoy. It's always hard to watch your life fall apart around you. The ending is just horribly poignant. Good job.

Thank you so much!

I really feel for McCoy. Considering how young he is, he's been through a lot. :(

Aww, man, that was beautifully painful. The last few lines were touching, as was the whole concept of the 'medicine' Joanna made him. Loved this.
