LOL aw you are adorable - the 80s are just "a few years back" . I had to weed a children's book from the 80s because the main storyline centered around a kid misplacing his WALKMAN! I did an 80s Escape Room and the teens looked at all the items in the room and had no idea how to work an Apple IIe.
I guess in the 80s, Windows and Computer had not become synonyms yet, so everyone had to specify what kind of computer they had? This must be why I remember that we had the Apple and my friend across the street had a Commodore and someone else had...oh what was it called? Intellivision...so not a computer LOL.
omg I am old, I'm going to go cry into my Popple...
It sounds like one I would have given up on. For a better story about a kid learning how to fly, have you ever read Black and Blue Magic by Zilpha Keatley Snyder? That's a good one!
I haven't, but that does look much better. Added it to my list!
I suspect you're going to love the book I'm reading now. Tooth and Claw by Stephen Moore. Told from the POV of cats and dogs, it's one of the most realistic animal POV books I've ever read.

I think you're right about computers. I had a Tandy from Radio Shack!
