Monday: We discover a massive problem at work. Every single one of our company's tools in customer hands stopped working. Customers pay hundreds of thousands of dollars per year for our software licenses. I worked a 19 hour day

Exactly. I know bees are in danger and we need to save all that we can, but coming into my apartment CROSSES A LINE. Sorry, bees, if the men killed you, so be it..
You're probably right about the vent having been left open. Ugh. Why have fireplaces in apartments! Really! There's enough risk in living in buildings with a bunch of other people without them LIGHTING FIRES ON PURPOSE.
Hopefully that's the issue as well. I'm really not sure how long I've had this computer, but he said after a couple years the WHATEVER battery needs to be replaced... even though that never happened to me before in the past.
Since everyone else responds about bees... He probably pulled your CMOS battery. So you know what BIOS is -- changed settings for the BIOS and some other stuff that is mutable has to be stored somewhere, and CMOS battery (just a small coin-cell battery) provides power to the dedicated memory so it doesn't get wiped out when the computer has no power. But sometimes that memory gets corrupted - cosmic rays, etc, basically entropy being a bitch.
Very easy to do, just unplug the computer, ground yourself, find the coin-cell battery on the motherboard and remove it, and wait a few minutes.
Based on the complaint I would've thought the issue is power supply, but yea corrupt BIOS settings can cause weird shit.

It's only 8:45 AM, but so far today is going okay. Computer worked, and I got into no accidents on the way to the office. Fingers crossed!

I look forward to not watching and waiting, worried, as I wait for my computer to wake up. Hopefully in a few days my concern will fade.
