"Consistency breeds contentment in cats."

Long, long ago, back when I was a preteen or a teenager, I read a book called It's a Cat's Life.

Even a dog would find your situation irritating! Any sense on how long you'll be in the temporary place?

First they said a week, then two weeks, then two weeks "but no promises". If I'm out of here in a month, I'll be surprised.

I've read that book too! Also long ago. But I recognized the cover instantly. Sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds very frustrating. I hope they finish the new place sooner than expected.

I hope so too!

I remember really liking that book. I might have to track it down for a reread... though it looks like there's no ebook format of any of her books. I feel so bad about books becoming lost. A lot of the fiction books I read in the 80s is just gone now, no used copies around, no ebook copies. Technology needs to hurry up and save copies of old books before they're lost for good.

Hm, well do you search used bookstores? or library sales that have discards and donations? I had to ditch half my personal collection years ago when I moved across the country, but am slowly regathering all my favorites.

There are a few I read so long ago I can't recall their titles now. And I was really dismayed once to find a manga series I enjoyed five years ago has now disappeared from my public library's system. They must have culled them out. I wish I'd been at the library sale that shuffled them off- I would have bought them all! (It was japanese about cats: What's Michael).

You should check out NeglectedBooks.com now that guy is really going for old forgotten titles!

And this is going on and on and on. Yesterday I tracked my experience for an hour. I had NINTEEN disconnects between 4-5 PM. It was downright impossible to do anything online. Guy came out and reset something for the apartment building, worked for a couple hours ("worked" as in only one DC an hour), then this morning I woke up and it's back to the DC every 2-3 minutes. SIGH.

I don't need much in life. All my stuff is still in boxes, I can cope with that. But I need a damned stable internet connection! ARG!

One day Google Fiber will save us all...
