Ever get the feeling you've made a really, really bad decision, but it's too late to do anything?

I went to pick up the keys to my "new" (temporary) apartment this morning. Turns out it's not just my apartment that didn't pass inspection. It's not just my whole building that didn't pass. Two buildings full didn't pass ( Read more... )

I am sorry. Moving is horrible. I have done it many times, and each time I tell myself 'never again.' I do like the part at the end though, where the boxes are almost all unpacked and you get to hang pictures and decide where things look best.

Hoping that you get quickly to that part, and in the place you want to be.

Thanks, I do too.

What makes this worse is that I know I'll be moving again soon -- a year or two from now. I don't intend to stay in this complex longer than I have to.

That's an unfortunate situation. I feel for you- it sounds like when I moved away to college and the student housing wasn't finished. They put me up in very cramped housing, but it took forever for the real housing to be completed and my mail got sent there anyway and other people opened my packages- it was a grand mess.

Ugh! That sounds just like what's happening here, yeah. Hopefully my mail won't end up in someone else's hands...

Ugh, what a mess. :/ I hope they finish up the building quickly and you can move into your real apartment, but the fact that they outright lied to you about the apartment being done, on top of not having their act together schedule-wise is definitely concerning...

Hope it all gets sorted soon!

re: mail -- can you have the post office hold your mail for pickup until this whole mess is resolved?

It's especially annoying since the bedroom window of my temp apartment faces the apartment I should be in. So I can just stand there and stare at it...

Good idea on the mail! Same as them holding it if you go on vacation.

Living in the woods is nice, but bring bug spray. I really hope the situation works itself out... Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
