Health and happy things (#6)

Feb 27, 2014 08:23

Doctor OKed me for going back to work full time. That's both good and bad, as I was really starting to enjoy a half-day schedule (so much free time!). And, even though my toe is awfully red, she said it's healing well and no sign of infection. Is it possible? Am I currently infection-free? So it seems! Yay ( Read more... )

Which server are you on in FFXIV?

Balmung. I was told it's the most RP-y server, and that seems to be the case! Where are you?

FWIW I can't head into town without tripping over RPers. The tavern/adventurer's guild in Ul'Dah always has a few acting stuff out. I'll admit to standing by and listening...seems like they really put effort into it.

XIV felt like coming home to me too. Just hit 41BRD last night, so I'm not really hooked into a lot of the stuff yet. Trying to hit 50BRD before I touch crafting again so I can participate in LS/FC stuff. I've gotta hit the ElderScrolls beta a little bit this weekend, and meet with the accountant (taxes...ugh)

Yeah, there really is a nice amount of RP around. It makes me happy!

I'm 22 archer/24 fisher. Working on my chocobo now, need about 1500 more seals. :D

And yeah, I think this weekend is going to be Tax Weekend for me, too. I want to get it done and out of the way.

Hey, I'm glad you seem to be getting healthy! I've been worried for ya.

I'm looking forward to seeing if they release new races for FFXIV. None of them really appeal to me now, but if they do something cool... I've heard nothing but good stuff about the game, so I'd like to try it out.

Thanks!

All of the races are the ones they had for FFXI, with the addition of male Mithra. Though they all have new names... basically the same though. I'm really hoping they release more classes! Something like beastmaster or WoW's hunter -- something with an animal pet.

I really can't say enough good things about it. So much story! Nonstop cutscenes! And I hate questing, but somehow I spent like five hours doing it tonight. The only only only bad thing I might say about it (and I don't want to say it), is MAYBE it's too easy. I've been playing exactly seven days as of today, and I'm level 25 (cap is 50) -- two jobs in the 20s in fact, plus a number of them in the teens. I'll be getting my mount tomorrow or the next day (hopefully), which is the last big thing I really want or need. I don't think I'm going to get bored right away, but I'm worried how much there will be to do a month or two down the line...

It's easier than WoW, and WoW is a cakewalk. Still, I'm loving right now!

There's female Galka, too! (Well, Ro-whatevers. Galka is easier to spell.) Also there weren't female Highlanders in the original release. I'm glad to have options for buff ladies! (Also pretty catboys, because, hey. ;p)

Oh true, I guess there weren't female Galka in FFXI! I saw one in some cutscene and just sort of blinked.

I love how different the sizes can be. That giant dark skinned fellow (one of the leaders of a starter city) is really striking. He almost won me over to join that GC, at least until he held the other leader on his arm like a parrot. :P

When I worked in a convenience store, there were only about 10 employees to keep the store open all the time, and if you got sick for your shifts and no one was available, well, it was still your shift. So there were a couple days when I had to work when I was totally down for the count-- could barely stand up, sneezing constantly, etc. That was definitely my least favorite thing about working there. But I didn't really have a choice in the matter.

When I worked at Walmart, we didn't even have real sick days; you could only have three excused absences in six months before you were written up.

That summer I managed to acquire bronchitis three separate times. I'd get one day of rest and then hope I'd be capable of standing by the time I needed to be in to open.

I imagine many large retailers--including grocers--have similar policies. If you plan on keeping your job, you are required to come to work, big honkin' gobs of green phlegm or no. You can only hope that the manager will take pity on you and send you home once you're there.

Sheesh, wow, that sucks. My sick days and vacation days are the same (so no one takes sick days, since it costs vacation days), but that's a lot worse! I feel bad for her, if it wasn't her choice.

This was more of a grocery store, but it's certainly possible they made her work instead of it being her choice. (Poor her, in that case!)
