Second best version of Little Drummer Boy

Dec 01, 2013 20:17

I'm not big on Christmas. Long story, holidays were bad when I was a child, blah blah blah. As a side effect of that, I really, really dislike most Christmas music. I try not to be grumpy about it, but it still bothers me deep down. There are only two songs I like: Little Drummer Boy and Gloria in Excelsis Deo ( Read more... )

music, videos, christmas

The Little Drummer Boy is my favourite carol. What is the best version for you?

I grew up with this one so it remains my favourite one....

I post my favorite version once a year, so in a week or so I'll link to it again. But for now you get a preview!

In Japan there was a safe sex campaign using the Little Drummer Boy song. A Japanese Safe Sex Fairy visits men about to have sex, giving them a condom. The lyrics (in English) are really catchy!

Link is likely NWS for most places of business.

I really like the one you linked, too! Very traditional. :)

This version of Little Drummer Boy is beautiful! I can't believe their voices.

That really is awesome, and one of my favorite Christmas carols too. :)

Gloria in excelsis Deo is such a beautiful sounding phrase, it makes me wish I knew Latin.

Chris knows latin and I asked. He said it can be most closely translated to mean "glory to God in the highest".

Thanks for asking about it! Very impressive that he knows the language! :D

No problem! :) We have a choice between French or Latin in German schools (and English is mandatory anyway), so he took Latin. He's forgotten the finer points by now, he says, but still understands it.

Oooh, Pentatonix envy! I'll be looking forward to hearing all about it!

You didn't, but I'm glad! And if you liked Narrowing Path, I think you'll love Knife of Never Letting Go! (And man, seeing that title after finishing all three books... the author is amazing! MUST NOT SAY MORE SO DON'T SPOIL)

I swear, I could live in a hot tub. I feel weightless in it -- I barely stay on the seat with the jets blasting around me. So warm and bubbly and relaxing.
