Happy things! (RL)

It's been quite a nice Sunday. It feels like fall. It's so nice and cool! Our high was 68, and there's a nice very cool breeze blowing. Even better than that, the days are getting shorter. I know I'm the odd man out on this, but I hate it when it doesn't get fully dark until 9:45 PM. I like it dark in the morning when I get up, and I'd love it to ( Read more... )

I sometimes wonder just how much genes and such really do play into things. Yeah, I know darker skinned people who handle the cold fine, and lighter skinned people who love the heat, but at the same time... you talk about liking it be darker. While for me, I just plain hate when it's not bright and sunny out. Sun makes me feel good, and when it's dark I don't want to move. If it's like that too long I start to get really depressed...

And your video is really interesting. It reminds me of a lot of stuff we're actually directed towards in school. In fact, a lot of the theories in that video we're being taught to use ourselves (since design is largely management) - and actually, a lot of large video game companies are employing them already. Figures that it would be the game industry that's thinking in that direction, huh? Hee.

Also... YAY ADORABLE ICONS!

I've wondered that as well. I get sunburned in five minutes. (Just driving in the car gives me a sunburn!) I've joked to myself that I'm not made for the sun... but it's kind of true. It really, really hurts my eyes, and I burn so quickly. I think it has to be genetic, at least somewhat?

Your icon keeps making me grin! :D

Natural light & UV light are migraine triggers for me. I have to wear very very dark polarized sunglasses to be outside on clear days for longer than 30 minutes. It is no surprise then that I prefer winter & night time.

My wife is the opposite. Total sun worshiper. I finally compiled enough evidence that she needs to cover up or heavily sunscreen if she's going to be outside, though she still isn't great about it.

I'm glad she uses sunscreen now, at least somewhat!

I just get stabbing pain in my eyes from bright sunlight. I'm blind when I come out of a store in the middle of the day, I have to stand there blinking and wiping away tears so I can see enough to cross the parking lot to get to my car. I can imagine how much worse it being a migraine trigger would be.

I am a walking contradiction. On the one hand, I have really sensitive eyes, so it's probably good for me to not have a lot of light exposure. On the other hand, I also suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, so I get super depressed when it gets dark early.

I think I'd rather wear sunglasses all the time than be constantly depressed, though. ;p

This is actually giving me a fascinating story idea! I'll let you know if anything comes of it. My track record at actually writing things is not so good. ^^; (I have years of FFXI fics that never actually got written.)

I love the endless summer days, but hate the heat...I need to move to Alaska! Except I can't stand long nights either, blah. Maybe I can just spend summers in Alaska.

I feel depressed when it gets dark too soon. I turn on all the lights in the house on winter evenings, even if I am the only one home.

Wouldn't that be wonderful? Spend summer in one place, winter in another? Maybe when we retire! (See you in Florida. :P )

Yeah, seems like a lot of people get depressed then. Strange I'm the odd one and like it.
