Anderson paced up and down the aisles of the church. So far the barriers hadn't been tested, between the children's creatures and himself they had kept the ghouls at bay.  He ran down the list of supplies in his head reassuring himself that they had enough.  Saying a quick pray to the Lord he readied himself at ( Read more... )

Ikuto's cry could be heard from across the church.

"Digisoul.. CHARGE!" The familiar light of Digivolution was bright, and a large bird now stood next to Ikuto. Ikuto jumped onto Peckmon, practically flying out of the church. Ikuto paused to look at Anderson, frantic.

"Father, must save friend! In danger!" And he turned to leave.

Anderson instantly snapped out of his woolgathering. "Slow down lad. There's a lot of people in danger, but you can't just go chasing after them recklessly. I need you here where I can protect you, and the other children." A look of concern covered his face.

Ikuto shook his head.

"You stay, protect children. I must find Michael. He in danger. Friend, must save!" But he looked at Anderson, and managed a smile despite his worry.

"I am still warrior. I have Peckmon, and Digisoul." He held up a glowing fist.

Anderson drew himself up to his full height, but his eyes stayed kind. "I can't let you do that Ikuto. My duty is to protect God's flock, and that includes you. You're a strong boy, but I don't want you to have to face these things more than you already have." Anderson laid a hand on Ikuto's shoulder. "Understand?"

[[when we last saw our anti-heroes...]]

It had been a long time since Anakin had had to run anywhere, but now he charged ahead, stopping only to make sure he slammed his boot into the skull of anything not quite dead.

He saw Shego's strange companion take out all threats and Allana being taken into her arms. That left his grandson, safe for the moment but still in danger of the hordes down the hall.

His focus on the children was all-consuming, and it was no suprise when one of the undead managed to smash some piece of debris it had found into the control panel of his suit.

Shego cursed as she snatched up Anakin, watching as the older Anakin got smashed. She handed the two children to Devimon ("Don't be afraid. He's a good monster. He loves candy and everything, and I bet he'll share with you.") and running over to the man ( ... )

Kriff. Kriff. What was the word Shego had used? Fuck. The lenses of his mask flickered and shut down, leaving him in darkness as he fell. Those few seconds seem to last years, until the auxiliary systems of his suit kicked in and his life support began to hum.

He struggled to his feet, cursing the fact that the zombie hadn't taken out the alarm functions. The whine in his ears was incessant. Ten minutes until it failed. Anakin and Allana were out, he could only assume they were safe, kriffing zombie got him while he was--

The explosion behind him almost knocked him to his feet again. He whirled around, the lenses of his mask darkening to protect his eyes from the fiery plasma. When they came back online he saw his companion unmoving on the floor.

Fuck. Kriff. Fuck. No-Her chest still rose and fell. The Force was with them yet, but they were far from the church ( ... )

A glow came from the pouch on Shego's left leg. It was extremely bright, managing to be seen despite the green material. It didn't take long for Devimon to show up again, this time acting more like the vicious demon he appeared to be.

Taking out everything in his way, he calmed down once he saw Shego was okay. He put her on his back, her arms automatically putting a death grip on his neck. He grabbed Anakin by the shoulders, barely lifting him off of the ground. He wheezed, but managed to move swiftly.

"You're fat."

Rorschach limped into the church, his coat torn, stained, and filthy. At least, more so than usual. His ankle had been twisted during the trip here, a trip which had been complicated when the handle of his cleaver had very inconsiderately fallen off while braining an undead Oompa-Loompa. He'd been forced to improvise with his sock and a chunk of rubble, which wasn't much of a replacement.

Still, he was here, and not bitten. Rorschach stepped hesitantly forward, his mind whirling. His encounter with Shego had already upset his mental equilibrium, and being in a church didn't help. The idea of religion, of a universe with morality and meaning and justice independent of human action, had always been something he rejected. But here he was.

Rorschach stood awkwardly, limp sock in his hand, and looked for someone in charge.

Father Anderson was certainly large, and was quite possibly in charge with all the orders he was giving. "And make sure to check the boarding on the back windows." Noticing the new arrival Anderson made his way over quickly. Looking the figure up and down he quickly deduces that the blood is not the man's own. "I think you might want something better than that," he said pointing at the sock.

He looked down at the sock. "Appreciate any alternative. How secure are we here?"

Seemingly from the sleeve of his coat a bayonet leaped into Anderson's hand. Flipping it so it was handle first he handed it to Rorschach. "Secure enough, the ghouls haven't gotten close enough to test my wards and I would rather keep it that way."

After Kim had fallen asleep, Shego limped her way over to Rorschach, shamelessly collapsing next to him.

She was worn out completely. The baby Digimon Pagumon was asleep in her arms, and she stroked his ears lightly.

"Glad to see you made it, Mask."

"Hurm. Glad I made it too." With great effort, he managed to take the sight of the Digimon in stride. The sight of Shego acting maternal was a little harder. He noticed she was injured and tired. Good to know she did have limits.

"Are there any less of them?" She looked at him hopefully, green eyes looking lighter than usual. Pagumon stirred and she softly cooed at him, long claws scratching his tiny cheek. He enjoyed it, ears flapping happily.

He nodded. "Seem to be thinning out some. Worst may be over." Rorschach shifted uncomfortably, not just because of his ankle. He had a dozen different plans for killing, crippling, or imprisoning this woman, but none for casual talk. He looked at her arm. "Hope that's not a bite."

"NNnnnggghh..." Anakin squinted his eyes against the harsh glare of the church lights. He wasn't wearing his mask--

I was attacked by the undead

Ah, yes. He couldn't stay here. But where was Luke- that probably hadn't happened. Hallucination? Most likely.

He rolled over and checked the respirator keeping him alive while his suit was out of commission. Someone had placed it on a wheeled cart for mobility- good. He struggled to his feet and headed towards the exit.

The Force was still with him, after all.

Anderson saw Vader get up and try to make his way out of the church, damned fool. He placed himself firmly between the door and Anakin. "You're in no shape to be going out there. Just be a free meal for them."

"The Force is my ally," Anakin replied, trying to make it look as though he wasn't leaning against his mobile life-support cart for support. "If nothing else, I can keep them at bay."

"You're too weak right now, and you know it. I'll keep them at bay. Been in far worse before." He looked at the life-support cart. "One swipe from them on that thing, and you're dinner."
