He really ought to stop wandering the halls, Adam's realized, when he has no destination. But here he is, roaming again, this time following a sort of scream that would signify horrific pain, one that someone could recognize regardless of hearing it at any other point in their lives ( ... )

"No. No, I am not all right," Elle hissed through gritted teeth. She was slumped against a wall, hearing that hideous slithering getting closer and closer. What had she read about the Black Mamba's bite? There'd be a tingling sensation at first, then convulsions... the amount of venom was 'gargantuan'... "I am, in fact, blind and cornered by a goddamn poisonous snake, so in fact I think we can safely say I am pretty fucking far from all right. Thank you for fucking noticing!

Elle is never too terrified and helpless to be pissed off.

It really shouldn't be this amusing to watch someone be this frightened. Maybe he had seen too many horror movies lately, and whatever sense of reality he had left had been dulled.

"Oh all right, just one moment. Now if only your name was Eve, this would be slightly biblical. Oh well..." He said, still entertained and infinitely more calmer than a normal man would be when approaching a deadly snake, because he had plenty reason to be calm. He'd been bitten by snakes before, either just as deadly as this one, or more so, and the effects had never been long lasting.

Lifting up his shoe as if squishing a cockroach, he stamped down on the snake, a spot just below it's head, crushing it's neck. However, it did manage to bite him, in it's last moments, tearing a hole in his sock. "Ah, damn." Adam plucked the now dead snake from the ground, tossing it into another corner of the hall elsewhere, and looked over to where Ms. Driver remained backed in a corner. "Unless your movie has zombie snakes, I think we can assume it's dead."

Elle's relief at the snake's death- and was her vision starting to clear a bit, just now?- was tempered by irritation with the guy's attitude. "And, oh kind hero," she said, "I think we can assume the same of you." Fuck yes, her eyesight was definitely coming back; the guy was now visible. As an indistinct blob, but still- visible. "Because I'm pretty sure I heard that thing get in a good chomp on you when you stomped it. You know what they call the Black Mamba in Africa? Death. Incarnate. But hey, thanks anyway."
