James sits up a little himself, most of his weight on his arms. His hair's long enough to fall into his eyes, but he doesn't brush it back; he's gotten used to it. He gives Inyri a rather lopsided grin as he studies her.
The grin fades a little when he notices the bruises.
He shifts onto his side and moves his hand to trace a finger just above her hairline. "'s this?"
He thinks of his own home for a second -- of his one-time co-worker and her abusive boyfriend and, more importantly, the way Kerry beat him half to death with a baseball bat. None of which was apparently real, but hey, it's still a really good mental image.
"You're not going to be as desperate to go back as most people, then, are you?"
