Who: The Doctor (Ten) and The Brigadier
What: Cunning plans and a few pints!
When:  The Present
Where: The pub, naturally.

The Brigadier strolled into the pub. Or, at least that's what the map had said this was. It certainly looked like a bar, no mistake. Stools, booths, a shining counter-top, and a tender or two working behind the bar. Amazing. This ( Read more... )

Right on time, probably a first when it came to the Doctor, the Time Lord strode through the doors of the pub. He spotted the Brigadier near immediately, checking his watch as if he expected him to be late, but the Doctor didn't head over, right away. Rather, he took a minute to marvel at the fact that something around here had managed to avoid ruin. Bit of a shock, really, all things considered.

Offering a shrug of his eyebrows, near impressed, he jammed his hands into the pockets of his coat and headed over to the Brig. When he reached him, however, he didn't sit down immediately. Alistair had seen him change his face, true, but he figured the other man would want a moment to look him over. And, maybe, confirm that it was him in the first place.

"Hullo, then."

The Brigadier looked up at the tall, thin men walking towards him. A brown overcoat, blue suit... tennis shoes. Could this really be the Doctor? He'd been so used to him as an older gentleman in velvet, or even the younger man with the curly hair. This was something unexpected.

However, as soon as the Doctor greeted him, Alistair knew this had to be him. He exuded the same aura of intelligence, of knowledge, of being somehow older. A smile crept across his face.

"It's good to see you again, Doctor. Care to have a seat?"

He gestured towards the stool next to him.

"Good to see you, again, too."

The Doctor broke into a grin of his own, near manic and very much his fourth regeneration. It was, much to his delighted surprise, still very much force of habit to beam at someone - particularly the Brigadier - like that. And still grinning, he slid in to the offered chair, hands coming out of his pockets to fall on the counter top.

"So, what do you think, then?" It was hard to tell what he meant by that, honestly. The Time Lord could have been asking the Brigadier what he thought of his new appearance. Or it could have been a question of what they were meant to do about the Dalek. Or any number of other things, really. He'd asked it so ambiguously so that the other man could answer however he liked. So that he could lead the conversation.

Well, he certainly recognized that smile. The grin was infectious and he found himself returning it as he turned around to lean on the bar. The tender had dropped of the pints, and he picked up his glass, contemplating for a moment as he took a sip.

"What do I think? I think it's very strange how your regenerations start getting younger, if this any indication. But, it suits you, Doctor. Tennis shoes and suit? Perfect."

He gave a small laugh. "What have you been doing? I seem to have missed about twenty years of our relationship."
