Who: Mac, Guy and Caroline
Where: Mac's apartment
What: Black holes and revelations
Mac is anxious. He'd come to a decision, several days ago now, that he was going to have the brain surgery. He knew success wasn't guaranteed, and he knew it would mean some sort of horrific post-op treatment - chemotherapy or similar - but he'd decided life was worth it. Still, explaining this to Guy and Caroline meant sealing the deal - he couldn't change his mind once other people became aware of his intentions. And whilst, in Mac's dream world, he'd go and get the surgery without telling anyone, he knows deep down that he can't do that. Not here. He knows barely anyone, he has no family, and as a doctor and a surgeon, he knows people need caring for after major surgery. Guy and Caroline may not be his chosen nursemaids, but they're all he has.
There's a second issue at hand as well, namely the fact that he can't stop thinking about what had happened between him and Guy the other night. 'Just a shag', those had been Guy's words, but that didn't help the fact that Mac kept waking up in the middle of the night in a complete state, thanks to some very vivid dreams.
He's knocked from his reveries by a knock at the door. Hopefully it's Guy, so that issue two can be dealt with before Caroline turns up.
