Oh, there's something I noticed -- Bloo, do you use curves to clean up the b&w before you colour? That might stop some of them from looking 'dirty' around the edges. :3 Saving them as .png's will also preserve a little more of the quality.

...Aside from that, stealing a bunch. >>

Yes, I do, but on a majority of those Conan icons, the actual scan quality let me down. I didn't realise it was quite so greyed out until I put it against some of my other icons.
