I absolutely adore all the little details of this story - the violets between Richard's dead finger, the rock ballads about Richard and de Vere - oh, and Anne having tea with her husband's lovers! Anne was wonderful in this story, and that section was probably my favorite part. Hal and the end was an especially nice touch. Lovely work.

I'm so glad that you liked it! Particularly that you liked Anne; she was terribly fun to write.

Oh, man, this is just beautiful. It's both heartbreaking, and occasionally funny. I love it entirely.

Things I especially loved:

- Richard inspiring glam revivalists and angsty ballads (which totally made me think of Annie Lennox's part in the Jarman Edward II!)
- Edward's lack of tea-drinking skills.
- ANNE OMG JUST EVERYTHING ABOUT HER. &hearts
- OT3-ness. WIN.
- Poins, OMG.

Man. Poor, poor Aumerle. *squishes him*

I love this. Thank you so much, mystery author.

*smile* I'm glad that it was both funny and sad; that contrast was what I'd hoped would make the fic work.

I'm also glad that you liked my Anne. And my Poins. I don't write them near enough, and I ought to. ^__^

(Edward's tea-fail? Completely based on my own. I constantly scandalize Kylee and Dani with my insistence upon milk and sugar.)

YOU TOTALLY SHOULD. I loff Anne with ALL TEH LOFF. And I thought the way you depicted her handling of Richard's manslutty ways was spot-on. :D

Also, there is NOTHING WRONG with putting milk and sugar in your tea. Well. All the British people I know in person take it with milk and no sugar. I like it the other way round.

*laughs* Poise and innuendo?

It is apparently Not Chic. If you are a Cultured Drinker of Tea, you must have your tea plain. Sometimes, a small squeeze of lemon or a teaspoon of fine cream might be acceptable.

Oh, poor, poor Aumerle! This was fantastically done (DEAR GOD DON'T ANYONE GIVE HIM TEA) and Hal and Poins were such wonderful little cameos!

For some reason, the description by Poins of Aumerle as 'some old man' really made me catch my breath on the verge of tears, because it's all so very far from what was...

And he's not even all that old, really--he's just older than Poins, and his position is incomprehensible to boys who think they'll live forever (and in some way that he would never articulate to himself, he, too, thought that he and Richard would live forever). That was one of my favorite lines in the piece, and I'm glad that worked for you.

*chuckles* It was also the giveaway that helped me guess - because we have so many of the same buttons and use them so VERY well on each other!

XD That was how I knew your fic. That last bit especially, Hotspur in the rain--GUH. It was like every literary device I've ever liked had a party in my favorite character's house.

Wasn't exactly unusual, that no one wrote love songs for fat, bluff Edward of Aumerle. Art loved the queer nexus of excess and asceticism that Richard and Robert could inhabit; it was interested in the kind of bone-deep longing that could never be satisfied by having. It had little to say about contentment.

*loves*

This was all lovely, but that was my favorite bit.

I'm glad you liked that bit--occasionally I go off on philosophical tears, in fics, and it's nice to know when they work. ^_^;;
