That's just it, though. They're selling cake to benefit Type I, but eat enough of that cake, and you can develop Type II. So it's WIN-WIN. I think that's what she's saying. ;-)
OMG... so horrible! Why aren't they showing those adorable little munchkins using their insulin needles after eating the gooey delicious cake?
I've repeatedly complained to my local grocery store that they really should NOT be selling root beer floats to raise money for cancer charities when the cancer in question is associated with obesity. And yet... twice a year, they're out there with the damn ice cream scoopers. For godssakes, they could at least do chocolate dipped strawberries, or little cups of mixed nuts or SOMETHING with some redeeming nutritional value.
Wow. Hmm. I guess a lot of restaurants do these types of things, but for DIABETES?!?!??! which fatty foods and sugar contribute to? Yeah. Bit silly and maybe a wee bit insensitive.
