EVENT | attack of the plants

Mar 28, 2012 01:15

Remember how quickly the plants seemed to grow this month? How they were persistent, difficult to get rid of no matter what anyone seemed to do? It's almost as if the plants are growing minds of their own, with how things are going. Pull out some plants from the cracks, have even more grow back by the next day. Some have even been spewing poisonous ( Read more... )

[Not that any day in Icarus is a pleasant experience, but this was rapidly becoming one of those days where Emma really wanted to be elsewhere. But no, instead of being in a fabulous spa, or trying to relax on Utopia before someone else showed up to attack it, or honestly, at this point, there were even a few villains she’d rather deal with instead, but no, she’s here. Dealing with plants.

Or more accurately, attempting to deal with the people trying to get away from the plants. At the moment, she was a little busy trying to make sure that a recently crushed building was empty. Normally it’d be an easy task, but with all the worried thoughts constantly coming in from across the city, it was proving to be more difficult than normal.]

How in the hell does that woman expect us to stop this? If she wanted a bloody gardener, she should have asked someone else to come here and deal with these overgrown weeds!

Really? I’d offer to help you with that, but I’m afraid now’s not the best time. Anyways, as far as the fumes go, would you considering seeing them with someone else’s eyes seeing them for myself? I personally try to avoid exposure to toxic gas whenever possible, so you’ll have to forgive me for not actively trying to spot the stuff.

[Her tone remains uncaring the whole time she speaks. As if seeing people exposed to poisonous gas doesn’t bother her in the slightest.]

Like I said, it’s supposedly fatal to human beings. My other ability provides immunity to poisons, so I figured I should go first. That way if I do spot something, I’ll be able to warn you in time to avoid an untimely death. Is that okay with you, dear?

[For the love of - the woman's tone reminds him of someone back home, but he'll just ignore that. A sigh as he raises a brow, begins to walk again. A moment, and he holds out a hand for the other, motions for her to lead.]

Be my guest, then. It's a wiser plan than anything others I know would have come up with.

I have a feeling you’re probably not going to like this one either.

[She steps forward, her skin and hair turning to diamond. Barring some sort of super plant toxin she should be okay now. Unfortunately, due to how this works, she sounds colder and less caring than she did before.]

There. All ready to go now.

[And without bothering to see what how Altair reacts, she continues heading forward, following the plants.]

[His steps stop completely, he watches in shock, maybe some horror as she changes. He's trying not to claim sorcery, to attack her right away because he was warned, but this is just... It's different. It's unnatural.

Still, it doesn't keep him from following after. He just wants all of this done and over with already.]

How are you capable of this, of any of what you've done?

The short version? Things like this run in my family.

[Emma just keeps walking, trampling a smaller plant as she moves forward.]

The long version would take far too long to explain, and quite honestly, I’m not sure how much of it you’d understand. Trust me, it’ll be quite a few centuries before mankind gets to the point where things like this are commonplace.

[She may have taken a small peek into Altair’s mind while they had the link up. Sorry about that.]

And I believe you know that because you looked past my thoughts? [There's a sound of disapproval in that. He likes his privacy, thank you very much. Unfortunately, against modern abilities and such, he doesn't get a say in it.]

- Wait. It has gone quiet.

Only briefly.

[She wouldn’t care about his disapproval even if she could care right now. It’s not like she found anything useful either. Just some a vague idea of when he’s from.]

…it has. What do you think is going on?
