While spending the holidays on some weird, magic island away from her family wasn't exactly what Pam would ever have wanted for herself, she had to admit, waking up next to Jim on Christmas morning was nicer even than she'd expected, or would have if she'd ever really thought it would happen. She was glad he'd asked her to stay the night, and just ( Read more... )

Jim usually fought the sun's glare, but it was eventually too much for even him to ignore. He woke up a little while later, eyes blinking slowly as he forced his eyes to adjust. He smiled, then, feeling the telltale shift of Pam moving in his arms.

He had pulled away enough to kiss her forehead, and was almost surprised to see her awake and looking back at him. He lifted his hand a moment later to rest against her cheek.

"Merry Christmas," he murmured, voice stuff gruff with sleep, before leaning in to kiss her lightly.

Pam was already smiling by the time he kissed her, leaning into his touch even after they broke the kiss. "Good morning," she replied quietly, then added, "Merry Christmas." It already was that, to be sure, and she hadn't even been awake all that long. Despite his having woken up, though, she didn't have it in her to move away yet. Just then, it felt too good lying there beside him.

Jim found himself in not much of a rush either, especially with the lack of telltale signs Samantha was awake. He imagined the rest of the day would be busy with parties, so a little quiet time with her was definitely nothing he was going to pass up.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked, as his hand went to rest wrapped around her waist again. He'd never say it outloud, but a part of him knew he never slept as well as he did when she was around.

Pam let out a contented sigh as she nodded, leaning in to rest her forehead against his. The quiet was definitely something to be enjoyed, maybe especially because of what day it was. There really was no better way that she could think of to spend Christmas morning, with the both of them stuck here. She couldn't deny that she still missed home and some of the people there, but equally undeniable was that she was far happier with him than she had been since she'd shown up.

"Yeah," she replied, bringing her own hand up to rest on his shoulder once his was on her waist, "I did." Still grinning, she bit her lower lip, the look nothing short of fond. "How about you?"
