In my search for more and more steampunk to read I had been looking at the Kady Cross titles (interesting covers) but they seemed like they might be a bit romance-y for me. Don't get me wrong - I like romance as a genre and read plenty of it, I just don't do historical romance at all and romance-based steampunk would get into that no-go area

Facial piercings? Tattoos? Big motorbikes and cell phones? Huh? I don't remember those things in the books. I'm sorry. Maybe I better go back and read them again. I remember a dirigible trip across the Atlantic, an engineer that made a mechanical cat, but not cell phones. Maybe I'm thinking of another series...*ponders*

Well the motorbikes were called something else and the cell phones were personal telegraphs or something like that - but still!

Don't be sorry. I had been looking at them for a while and now I don't need to wonder.

Instead I've gone on to reading Mary Daheim's Alpine Xanadu and am enjoying that much, much more.

Another series I'm not sure where I left off. Alpine Vengeance? What was U....The Alpine Undead; no, that would be Zombie. LOL Uproar. Had to look it up and think I read that one.

You can't give up on the Alpine series when we're so close to the end! I enjoyed Xanadu but the mystery aspect is fading away as all the personal plot threads are being tied up. I have no problem with that. :o)
