Tamora Pierce's Battle Magic

I just started the book Thursday at work and had a hard time getting into it. This "series" (Tris, Daja, Sandra, Briar) has always been my least favorite of her books. Now I don't feel so bad about starting something else at home.

As I said I didn't like the series when it first started but after a re-read it rose up in the favourites rankings. :o) The theme in the first quartet is classic YA and although the start is slow it really works well by the end of the set. And the next quartet was good, too.

I don't think I'll even keep Battle Magic and, given the time and effort (and money) I've poured into my Tamora Pierce collection, that's a pretty big step.

I did like the second set better than the first but still prefer her other series (Alanna, Kel, Beka).
Then you wouldn't have a "complete" collection, not that you plan on ever selling them anyway!

Being a completist is (luckily) something I've overcome in my collecting life. It wasn't easy, though. ;o)

Do you not like Daine's series?
