J&W Dictionary Fraglets 15-17/20: Maliciously, Snore, Somebody

Just four three (go me with the numbering) more to go after this! The first one is not lamely short, it's not! It is pithy. PITHY. Laconic, even. Also, I doubt you'd want it to go on very much longer than it does, assuming I haven't been so obtuse you don't get it. And for your own health, please don't try to work out what year it's supposed to be ( Read more... )

You marvelous beast you. Made me cry and made me like it. *sniffle*
The first one was quite zesty - I shudder to think what would come next.
The second was just slightly bittersweet and warmly wonderful.
The third was... ow ow ow. Well done and I'm such a happy ending addict that I can't write this kind of thing, but I can appreciate it for what it is. *snirfle snork*
I'll be imagining another couple of paragraphs, though, so I can put away the kleenex. ;p

Spiffing, m'dear, utterly.

Aw, don't cry! *passes hankie* I meant it to be hopeful-ish, so you may imagine whatever soothes your soul.

Oh, the last one would need a sequel with happy ending now don't you agree? It was sweet, kinda sad but ended with leaving me shouting 'oh yes yes yes, to America!', meaning that I would love to see Bertie and Jeeves reunited and a happy endind to this nephew and Colin too. Any chance for it? Please?

I make no promises! If I did it I'd want it to be a story-length story, and I've already got two of those I absolutely need to write once I'm through these. But I also won't say never, 'cause there's no telling what my brain will do.

Maliciously terrified me, and Somebody made me go, Awwww .... I'd love to see how that one turns out.

Thank you! *points up at other replies* Best I can do is a 'maybe someday.' But lookie! Twinnish ampersand icons!

I'm glad I'm already sitting down, or I would keel over from the gorgeousness of that icon.

Oh please please please write a sequel to Somebody! It's at least 2,000 words too short!

Snore was absolutely dreamy!

Oh, I'm starting to feel terrible that I can't just go, "sure, right away!" But I have a thing with a deadline, and a gnawing bunny, and not the research time I'd need for the kind of sequel I'd want. Not soon, anyway. It's a someday kinda thing, I'm afraid.

What is the nameless female menace suggesting? Am in the dark. Whatever it is, the ladies underestimate Jeeves, and, perhaps, Bertie as well. (There must be some shady business going on to cause the woman's ploy, anyway).

Jeeves' romantic mind seems to get tangled in itself somewhat: a two of him, for instance? - must be the result of self-digging at 5 am. A colourful ficlet with breathtakingly touching depictions of Bertie and poignantly classic comparisons.

Wistful-sad but perplexing: what on earth did Bertie wait so long for?? I wonder how did it really occur that Jeeves had left; can't imagine he'd known Bertie might be in love with him.
The hilarious 'travelling guts' allegory seems even more Bertie-esque than Bertie himself. I didn't much care for Topper but for his being a handy plot device and, unexpectedly, Tuppy and Angela's son.

Ach, I was afraid my clever non-specificity would be too obtuse. My notion was that she's going to get Bertie into something so compromising that there won't be any way he can back out. Make of it what you will; I confess I didn't give it heaps and heaps of thought.

unexpectedly, Tuppy and Angela's son.
Did the uncle thing throw you? I thought it was plausible enough that a kid of theirs would call him 'uncle' since he and Angela are so sibling-like, but maybe I should've thrown in a touch more explanation.

I'll admit to a certain fondness for Topper, but you're right that he's more or less a device here. I'd been toying with different things like this for a while (and binned about 10 pages involving Bertie's improbable daughter and a whole WTF Bertie/Stinker dynamic) and this was what eventually came out.

I expected Topper to be the son of Bertie's semi-existant sister, and liked your actual idea much better.
